Do I Really Need to Visit the Dentist Every Six Months?

Flossing Benefits

Since at-home dental hygiene has improved, is it still necessary to schedule dental appointments every six months?

Although taking care of your teeth at home is a crucial part of your dental health, visiting the dentist on a regular basis is still important. Visiting the dentist includes more than just having your teeth cleaned. Your dental exams involve checking the mouth for any signs of decay, gum disease, oral cancer, and much more. There are many dental health issues that do not even cause pain or irritation until they are in advanced stages. It is important to find these issues early when it is more manageable.

The best thing you can do is speak to your dentist about how often you should come in for a dental exam. They will know the best schedule for you based on your dental health. For some individuals, such as people who have gum disease, are susceptible to plaque build-up or have a weakened immune system, you may need to see the dentist more regularly.

If you are due for a cleaning we welcome you to schedule an appointment with Dr. Gradeless in Fishers, IN. After your appointment, be sure to discuss the frequency you should be coming in for cleanings and checkups.
