Are Electric Toothbrushes Better Than Regular Toothbrushes?

Should I use an electric toothbrush or a regular toothbrush?

Many people wonder whether electric toothbrushes are better for our dental health, but if used correctly and for the right amount of time, regular toothbrushes can be just as effective as electric toothbrushes. However, there are some cases where an electric toothbrush may be more beneficial.

Kids do not focus too much on their dental health and an electric toothbrush may clean their teeth better than if they manually brushed their teeth. Individuals with arthritis, braces or gum disease may also benefit from using electric toothbrushes. These issues can make it difficult to remove plaque with a manual brush.

The American Dental Association (ADA) has also stated that regular toothbrushes can be just as effective as electric ones.

The key to keeping a healthy mouth is properly brushing your teeth. To make sure you are brushing your teeth correctly, the ADA has an online guide which you can find here.
